As a writer I have written over twenty books on different aspects of cultural history. I have also worked as an editor.

As a photographer I often illustrate my own books but I also do jobs for magazines and other writers books.

As a lecturer I talk on a variety of subjects for different societies, in libraries and universities. I lecture on Garden History in different education programmes for head gardeners and on cultural history in general for other types of education.
